We do not recommend the use of silver dips or other liquid cleaners as they may contain harsh chemicals that could be harmful to your jewellery. To keep your Annie Haak jewellery tarnish free, we recommend you use our silver cloth to remove dirt and body oils from your jewellery every time you wear it. High levels of humidity will increase the rate at which silver will tarnish. Hydrogen sulphide is also found in everyday items such as paper, wood, eggs and onions. Sterling silver is a precious metal and will tarnish over time as natural gases in the atmosphere (sulphur or hydrogen sulphide) react with the surface of the silver. There is zero to minimal transfer from the product during use. There is no residue on the finished cloth, the surface treatment makes the cloth more abrasive.
There is not 100% uptake of the impregnation mixture in the cloth - it is estimated that this is between 7% and 18% dependent on the dye used in the cloth manufacture. Our polishing cloths are made of 100% cotton and contain: Mercaptan (CAS ), Alcohols, C9-C11, Ethoxylated (CAS 6) which may cause allergic reactions.
